House of Sweden in Washington D.C. houses the Embassy of Sweden, offices and apartments, the Embassy of Iceland, as well as an Event Center that features conference and exhibition halls. The building was inaugurated in October 2006, and has since then become a spectacular landmark on the shores of the Potomac River, in the heart of Georgetown.

The Embassy of Sweden's public diplomacy program series, launched in conjunction with the opening, is so far the most ambitious project undertaken by a Swedish mission abroad with exhibitions, seminars, roundtable discussions and events open to the public. In just a short time, House of Sweden has established itself as a unique meeting place in the U.S. for promoting mutual Swedish - U.S. interests in the areas of politics, culture, trade and research.
